We were hiking in from the horse lot through the wash and we heard a rushing sound in the distance. We thought it was wind, at first, but it was calm out and the sound was rapidly getting louder. We stopped and he said, "I don't think that's wind..." We looked toward the source and we finally saw a dark cloud getting larger as it came right at us. Standing there motionless, we watched a huge swarm of bees fly directly over our heads, close enough that we could have reached up and touched them. It took about 30 seconds for all the bees to pass, but it seemed like eternity. That was about the freakiest thing I've ever seen out there! After already seeing two rattlesnakes during his 4 day visit, he turned to me and said, "Tell me again why you live here and why I shouldn't worry about you?"
