| no partners | | There once was a trail here. This was probably the toughest route to follow so far. The GPS track didn't always match the cairned/flagged route so it was tough to get back on track. There was much overgrowth and the route was just as difficult to follow on the return. You needed to look for cairns or a red/white flag or a faint ledge with rocks moved to one side and ignore the overgrowth to keep the trail. The creek was pleasant with the water running, a cool breeze blowing, plenty of shade and frogs jumping everywhere. I did see a whitetail deer from a distance that Chris flushed out on the trekk out. The young diamondback I noticed while stepping out of the Xterra to open the gate was a surprise. It was small with only 3 rattles and calm for almost being stepped on. It then crawled behind the front tire and waited. Chris pulled forward and avoided running it over and it slowly crawled off. I'll get out a bit slower next time I need to open a gate. |
