| no partners | | After a few hours of a different kind of adventure, I was finally able to set foot to snow on a revised alternate plan furthering my lifelong quest to never travel any full segment of the AZT. This one ticked pieces of 28 and 29 along the former rail grades where the line previously ended near Allan Lake.
I've always admired the metalwork and quality of the AZT gates in cattle country, but I feel confident in observing that their design never considered operation under snow cover! Alas, I used my critical thinking skills and devised a suitable solution.
Took the Payson route home. The rim had similar amounts as farther north, but even the little dip down near the WCC headwaters and Clints Well had only single digit snow depth. And few remnant drifts are likely to survive the week. The Mazzies looked nice for a few hours. |
