| partners | | A decade since I've done this one. Wow! Things change. Not a single beaver dam. Not even the sight of a beaver-felled tree remains. Numerous places the stream channel was hundreds of feet across the valley from where it flowed before. Still managed to see a couple of coati, some deer, hawks, a heron, a few head of cattle, but not the felines who had recently left their marks. Add a couple of hoomans on their bighorn search and it was almost busy!
Weather was perfect. Lows hit 31 and 34. Highs in the 60s. Sauntered upstream a good stretch past the old gay Chinese lady to some fun caves in a side canyon. Skipped climbing to the ruins but headed up through the midnight narrows.
Drove out via the rim. A couple of more miles, but a much, much, more pleasant drive than the pass. Nature now reflective of 2025 timing worked perfectly for our plan on this one. Much nature happy. Hopefully I won't wait 10 years to do it again. ](https://hikearizona.com/dex2/images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif) |
