| partners | | It was 3 years to the weekend since we did this one last and unsurprisingly, the 2026 edition was considerably drier. Still, there was plenty of water along the whole loop, but it was possible to make it without getting your feet wet on this day. Next week? Much less likely.
Fall rains and springlike January temperatures have grown this summer's kindling to kneedepth. I must say, barren moonscape looks so much nicer when carpeted with invasive green weeds. Borderline pleasant.
A handful of groups on the first mile of BCT103, a couple with a dog in the box, not a soul across Cavalry, three groups along Boulder creek, and two camped near 2nd water. To nobody's surprise, none more until reaching the paddleboards at the lake.
Cooler than last weekend, still a bit warm in the sun. Purposefully sought out shade for our breaks. Thanks for being my valentine 9L. Again. |

Wildflowers Observation Light 100% more substantial than anywhere all of last year. |
