| no partners | | I've driven by Cunningham too many times to count and it was finally time to get all up on it. Took off from Mesa around 11am and reached the parking area around 2pm. The dirt road in from 95 is in good shape - I'm always happy to have my beefier tires and there were no clearance issues to contend with.
Obviously the grade is super steep so not the fastest ascent. The southerly views of the Dome Rock Mountains are killer. Somewhere just below the summit, I walked toward the edge of the service road to get some pictures - to my surprise there was a gila monster sitting right there soaking up the sun. What are the odds!
Snapped some shots at the summit, admired the views of the Colorado River, then got the fork outta there. Ended up lightly jogging a good portion of the descent. Way easier than holding back momentum on the steep road.
Cool peak, worth the effort. The hardest part is being even remotely close to Quartzsite.  |
