There are some distant views of the lakes and two running streams. Both are Bannon Creek, one going into Upper Goldwater Lake and the other coming out of Lower Goldwater Lake. We did the entire trail from AZ 89 to the Senator Highway and back. It could be done starting at either trailhead but we opted to do most of the uphill during the first half. Going west to east there was 835 feet of accumulated elevation gain (AEG). There was 375 feet AEG in the other direction or a total of 1,210 feet for the round trip. The distance was 4.68 miles in each direction or 9.36 round trip. This trail is part of the Prescott Circle Trail.
The trailhead at AZ 89 was just off 89 at the entrance to the White Spar Campground. After making the turn you'll see a gate to the right. There is a fiberglas trail sign at the gate. The trailhead on the west side of Senator Highway was 4.1 miles south of Gurley St., exactly across the street from the Watershed Trail (#299) where parking is. A fiberglas sign marks the trail. |
