Total distance was 12.7 miles and a little over 2,000' AEG. Too bad there isn't a trail to eliminate the road walk which was the least interesting part of the hike. After the initial climb on the Goat Camp, the trail climbed more moderately and then was just gradual ups/downs and less rocky than most trails in the Phoenix area until the down on the Mesquite Canyon Trail. The scenery was not as good as on the Ford's Canyon Trail in my opinion. It was mostly mountains with various towers on each surrounding a valley which you hike around. I enjoyed the hike but may not repeat especially given the road walk. Being an overcast day didn't help. |
