It is 13,770' high and offers fantastic views of the Whitney zone, decent views to the west, and poor views of the Meysan Lake Basin. There are numerous routes to gain the peak. I used the east chute which is found between Irvine's east buttress and Mount Mallory's NE buttress, on the south side of Meysan Lake. This chute takes you to a scree plateau and then it is an easy walk to the peak, unless you throw in some climbing to make it more interesting, like I did. The chute had a lot of snow in it, and I was actually surprised how much snow was in a lot of the gullies and chutes around Meysan Lake in mid-August. |
