| no partners | | For this very pleasant easy to moderate Mogollon Rim-Cabin Loop Area hike, I call this one Option#3 as a new addition to the first two options described in the hike description:
This loop we did today starts at the same FR321A TH, then to Dane Spring/Cabin then continues north a short distance on U-Bar TR#28 to exit "off-trail" and then down into Dane Canyon as described in the hike description and my posted GPS Routes/Pic Sets-captions. After entering Dane Canyon/Creek, this time we hiked north(DOWN) Dane Canyon for 1.5mls to again intersect U-Bar TR#28 then TR28 back to our TH Start to complete this enjoyable loop.
According to the topo maps, down Dane Canyon and on the west side up hill ~185ft there is a spring source called Floyd Spring. I had entered the approx waypoint into my GPS with high hopes of locating it, but after 30 minutes of steep off trail wondering, I was unable to locate it. It does not appear to be a perennial spring running down to Dane Canyon, but could be one that runs underground shortly after leaving the source. Maybe next time I will try driving up FR145A, then maybe an easier bushwhack to the Dane Cyn west side rim area to locate it.
Hope those of you who enjoy hiking our M/Rim-Cabin Loop area will consider checking this one out. (My attached pics/captions tell only part of the peaceful and serene story of this new hike option.) |
