| no partners | | Tried about a year ago to make it up Cat Mountain from the West unsuccessfully. Decided instead that it might be better to approach from the East-Southeast and clamber along the spine. Parked of Ajo Way and wandered in along a trail. Then just SE of the false peak (knob) cut off trail to the West and up to the false peak, then along the spine to the main peak. Not a bad route at all! The fake rock with the Sheriff's repeater is still up there. Now there is also a solar panel for it. So glad to finally get to the top of this as I can see the mountain from my home. Gorgeous views all around from the peak, and some great cliffs along the south side. Also simply fun hiking along the spine from East to West. |
