| partners | | Bill and I had been wanting to do this one for a while and I'm glad we did! Bill was convinced that the route went one way, and after climbing for a while and seeing no cairns on an ever-steeper slope and reaching a wall, he relented and we came down and went back up the chute.
The chute is well-marked with cairns. Halfway up I had some bees very interested in me, buzzing around my head and checking me out. Might have been the bright pink shirt, it made me a little nervous. I've been freaked out by bees more than usual after having them stuck in my hair when I was on the AZT. Thankfully they went away in the shady part of the chute and weren't seen the rest of the day.
The summit has fantastic views from a very different perspective than I'm used to, farther south than my usual stops in the Tucson Mtns. We headed down the ridgeline and intersected a well-cairned trail heading down toward the trail below.
Great hike- one I'll definitely do again. These lower desert peaks make for perfect winter hiking. |
