Had some nice weather this weekend - went skiing at Sunrise on New Year's Day, then came back for a dose of the Estrellas today. What a state we live in! Tanya and I hiked up to the Quartz Peak summit...very warm down low, but a chilly wind blowing on top. Tanya stayed there, while I made the hour long RT over to Butterfly Peak, which I had been eying for quite some time. Glad to have finally done it. Pretty rugged and brushy traverse over there, but I picked a better line on the way back (less catclaw = better). Great day, saw about 10 people enjoying the Estrellas in addition to us along the trail. Came back right at sunset for some nice photos.
