Had one last trail to finish off the North Sonoran Area trails on HAZ, Northern Apache Connector. Still trying to hang on to hiking in the afternoons thus a 2PM start.

Hiked counterclockwise:
-first part north on the Apache Wash east side Loop was a tad on the warm side making me think I wouldn't do all I had planned for this afternoon.
-Northern Connector to the other side of Apache Wash, the temperature cooled as the breeze brushed my face for almost the whole rest of the hike. Views here were good on north and south sides.
-didn't see any human hikers once slightly away from the TH until toward the top of Ridgeback Trail, but saw quite a few bike riders.
-groundcover is very green and looks like a mix of grass and potential flowers.
-just like yesterday, something that I would walk by smelled just wonderful but I couldn't pin it down.
-noticed the old road across Apache Wash that must have run alongside the wire fence that still stands; looks like it would have been part of the Dove Valley Road.
-didn't know Wolfberry bushes bloomed but the bees seemed glad of it as they were beesy pollinating them.
-the backlighting made some of the creosote glisten but I couldn't get a good picture to show you.
-this trail tread, for the most part, really spoils you.
-very clear today in all directions.

No after-hike beer since I had one and a half yesterday.

Short after run in the Sonoran North. Got to the Apache Wash TH around 4pm to find the lot almost half full.....that is saying something, it’s a pretty big lot. Did the loop clockwise. Quite a bit of traffic until I got past the Sidewinder. Then it was just me and a few bikers out there. Trails are well signed and easy to follow. Ideal for an OMR - old man running. Flat and not too rocky, though the eastern half has some rocky sections. Temps were great. No wildlife except for a few quail. Encountered 13 bikers, 11 hikers and 1 trail runner :)

Finding it harder to motivate after work, but made it today. Started from the Apache Wash TH. Did a clockwise loop out to northern Apache Wash Connector. Nice trail to jog, even in the muggy 100's. Flat, compact dirt surface and not too rocky. Trails are well signed and easy to navigate. Had the park to myself until the end when I encountered 2 hikers heading in on the AW. Wildlife was more than I expected: hawk, chipmunk, quail and of course lizards.

After work jog in the Sonoran Preserve North. Wanted to get a loop involving the Apache Wash Connector North. Went clockwise. Little sore from my Saturday run - I had strained the arch in my left foot - and this was a nice flat trail to try to work out the kinks. Saw several bikers but no hikers after the Sidewinder split off. Weather was nice once again. Wildlife was minimal: a lizard and a couple of quail.

Strung together a bunch of SPN trails to create a longer than normal workout. Swung back by the trailhead for lunch under the ramada, changed socks and shoes and took off again. Not much breeze, but intermittent cloud cover helped.

Saw two Western DBacks along the trails in the afternoon. The first was the largest and most polite -- a soft gentlemanly rattle at about 5 feet. The last one was smaller and far more agitated. Gave them both a wide enough berth and pressed on.

Nice day to be on the trails. Now off to soak the dogs. They are certainly tired.
