Even though the grade was gentle to moderate the whole way up, this hike was fairly challenging to me since I am not used to climbing 10,000 foot mountains. The hike time listed above includes 30 minutes on top admiring the long distance views of the Grand Canyon, Sitgreaves Mountain, Bill Williams Mountain, and the San Francisco Peaks. Viewed a small herd of elk within the first mile of the trail. That was kind of neat since the only other time I saw this animal in the wild was at Yellowstone. There are lots of downed trees at the start of this trail I believe from the Pumpkin fire, but I would still drive back to hike this one again. |
