We were camping at Big Lake and this trail has been on my wish list for who knows how long. Never been to this part of Arizona before. I am hooked! Weather was perfect, flowers were in bloom and we had a great time as a family. I'm counting down to fall as I see there are other trails in the area that should have great foliage.

The girls were out so it was time for the boys to escape the heat and do a trail that's been on my wish list for ages. There was even a smoldering fire on the rim road. Was surprised the road was still open. Had a great time and even took a detour and went to the fire guard cabin. Thank you Joe for providing the history of this tunnel!

Wanted to take a drive and get some scenery in while escaping the heat. Decided on Ferndell. It's changed since the fire a couple years ago and with all the rain we had over the spring, there was lots of growth. At the end of the trail, went to the big boulder and climbed up for the view. On the way back, we took FR651 back to the Sixshooter and made a loop back to the car. I wish I knew the history of the area. You can tell there were a couple of settlements back in the day with power/water lines. Almost appears as there was major cattle herding back in the day. Great day to be out.

Was talking with my son about how long it had been since we've done Wind cave and found out it had been 6 years. So with that, we decided it was time to visit an old friend. Used to be our go to trail when the kids were much younger. Had a great time.

I was in the area visiting family and have heard great things about the Ramsey Canyon Preserve. Decided to do a hike and only prepared for a short trip but realized once we got there, there are many more trails back there. We will definitely be going back.

Took a little convincing but was able to get my son out and take a hike with me. The reward (other than getting out and enjoying the weather) was an icee afterwards. We had a blast.

Went to Massacre Falls with my son thinking there would be water flowing after all the rain we had a couple days ago and I could see the snow in the supes from a distance. Wrong! There was not much of anything flowing. It was frozen. Still an experience and cool site to see.

Our daughter is home for the holidays and somehow Peralta Trailhead came up in a discussion. We realized it's been a few years since we last hiked it and decided it was time to go back. Still a fun hike with a great view. It was great spending time as a family.

Had to drop my daughter off at NAU. Instead of taking the I-17 back home, I decided to take 89a to 87 for some scenery. Just picked this trail because there was a sign for it on the road. Nice trail with nice views. I want to go back and go farther into the canyon next time.

Spent the day with a co-worker who's a native but never been to Sedona!?! Was a bit more crowded than I like but it was nice to get Devil's Bridge off my bucket list. Couldn't have asked for better weather and just had a great time.

Decided to take advantage if the cooler weather, cloudy sky's and take a hike that's been on my wish list for some time. It was a great hike, wonderful views. Started at Windcave trail which was quite crowded. Once on the Pass Mtn Loop, it got quieter and on the other side of the mountain, only a few people were on the trail.
