Nice after Thanksgiving hike up to the top of the Estrella's. I started where this post said to start and headed up the ravine. It was a hard hike due to there not being a trail and having to bust brush the entire way up. There are lots of large boulders that you have to navigate. There are a few cairns toward the base of the mountain, but those disappear quickly. At the top you will enjoy the views of the valley, if it is not smoggy. Overall a challenging hike that is well worth it!

Did a nice day hike loop, went down South Kaibab Trail to Phantom Ranch and enjoyed a relaxing cup of coffee. Headed up Bright Angel Trial and hung out at Indian Gardens for a little. Made it to the top and back home in time for a great dinner! Nice day out in the canyon!

Just joined the Coconino County Search and Rescue and we were out doing some map and compass training. Walking in the forest on Saturday and Sunday finding our way around with the compass. Fun times.

I love going down to the creek. It is one of my favorite places and there are not very many people that go down in this area. There are some nice rock art close by and I have seen a wonderful gushing spring coming out of the side of the canyon. Took my father in law down with me and we did some swimming, unfortunately when we got back to camp he noticed that he did not have his wallet so we had to go back on Sunday and hike down again, but we did not find his wallet.

I was in Kingman for some training so I decided to do some hiking after I got done. Went out to the state park and started hiking the trail to the top. ran out of daylight so I had to turn back around. It is a beautiful area and there were lots of deer around. I am going to have to go back and hike to the top. It was a nice escape from the heat of Kingman.

Did a nice loop this morning. Decided to do something different than just Elden Trail but wanted to stay close to home. Got some mileage in and some elevation gain in. Nice morning. I love the app on my phone called 'My Tracks' It tracks distance, time, time spent moving and elevation gain, it is sweet. Fun times in Flagstaff! :D
