Well, I'm kind of disappointed as I couldn't finish the hike and did not get the chance to see the final view of Canyon Lake (I believe we did 6 miles or so before turning back). It was pretty warm and needed to take some breaks because of my dog and started the hike late (main reason). In my opinion it's an easy hike until you get to the Boulder Canyon Trail. I normally do pretty good but this time I ended up slipping about 3 times and actually falling twice due to the loose rocks. So, be cautious! Thankfully no major injuries other than a cut on my hand. It's always good to carry a first aid kit, which I do so I was able to clean the cut and move on. Also, coming back can be somewhat confusing and we wasted about an hour on backtracking because we lost the trail. There are parts that appear it's a continuance of of a trail but as continue you see no trail ahead of you. So we needed to turn back and see where we made the mistake. Also, confusing was when crossing the creeks, it's difficult to see the cairns. At one point when you get to the creek, you see the cairn so you know you are where you should be, but one would assume you need to cross the creek and continue and we wasted about 15 minutes trying to locate the cairn on the the other side, only to realize the trail continues on the same side so we needed to walk along the creek to locate the other cairn and continue. Next time, I'll start from the Canyon Lake Trailhead and head to the part where we left off to have a complete photoset. :-)

Definitely a beautiful hike. Originally we went to Fossil Springs Trail but the trail is closed and will remain closed until February as they are blowing up the dam. Flume Trail is also closed.

I started this hike a bit late. It was a bit to hot but I was pleased that there were creeks where we were able to hide from the sun for a little bit and cool off. However, it was worth it. The pools were incredible.
