| no partners | | After checking out both trailheads for Camelback and finding a stream of cars waiting, cars parked in front yards and side ditches, and people "hiking" down the road for miles, I decided to hit up the Squaw Peak area. Same situation there, but I snagged a parking spot near the Hopi ramada and set out on the Circumference Trail (no plans to summit today). Although there were lots of people heading up and down the Summit Trail (I likened it to a parade) since many folks have this week between Christmas and New Year's off, I passed only a handful on the Circumference Trail. Once the trail joined up with the Summit Trail as I neared my car, it was the usual stream of folks, but the crowd had thinned out quite a bit since I started. All in all, the views were pretty, as usual, the hike was fairly easy, and it was a great way to stretch the legs and enjoy another warm, sunny winter day in Phoenix while the rest of the country freezes and digs out of 2' of snow! |
