great Hike with my sister and neice. Fall Aspens colors are at their peak right now. the lower aspens alreadylost their leaves, so you better hurry quick. I took a detour from this trail at the first rock outrop on the right of the trail below the first meadow, and climbed on the right hill up to the hugh rock outcrop which is a seek look into New Mexico, and the backside of terry Flats which is covered in Aspens up to 90%. You must look at this if you are hiking the trail. It was sunny and I got sunburned bad, but the wind was very cool so bring that jacket for you will need it. One more week or a good storm and everything will be over with, so GO NOW!!!

Got a late start with a 8 year old, so I didnt finish this trail, but decide to stop and teach her how to make a quick shelter from a fir or Spruce tree. I love this area, but the trail is not really there at all. You just follow the creek and either you are on it or you are not, either way it is a slice of heaven everyone should see if you like to walk in a no mans land and just be there with God and nature. I saw lots of Elk and Bear poo, so I was watching out since I had a little one with me, but the hie is a wonderland like you would see in movies. the crawdads or crayfish in thi creek are the biggest I have ever seen in my life. I found 6"-8" crawdads that look like mini lobsters. The water felt cool and refreshing, but due to the green algae it is telling me fertlizer runoff (From where?) or someone is pooping in the creek upstream. if so please stop doing it. It will sooner or later effect the trout that live in this stream.

Drove up from Phoenix from Beeline Hwy to Payson. That was my first time on that road, SR 87. why this is not a Scenic hwy is beyond me. It was one of the best I been on in the entire USA. Ft. McDowell Mountain area had more Saguaros than Tucson Saguaro national parks. Then the view of 4 peaks was amazing, only to drive through the Mazatzal Wilderness area, it was one vista after another with such drastic landscape change happening so quickly you could never get bored on this road to Payson. then I took SR 260 up to the Rim which was beautiful as well. Once on top of the Rim, I went down Forest Road 300 which is right on top of the Rim. Hiked the Rim Trail up there, and drove down FR 300 until it reached FR 9350. This is a must drive if you are in the area. FR 9350 has better views especially Campsite c-29 and c-36. just park your car on the road and walk the rim pass the c-36 campsite, you will not regret it at all. This week was kinda busy up there with people, but I assume it is from some of the school's fall break kids. I was going to camp there but it was to busy for my blood so I headed to Big Lake. This day the views where great, but the sun seems to always be in the view of the camera so I never seem to get a good pic there at all.

Biked the Saguaro National Park Loop for an evening ride before it closed. Loads of fun, with many fruiting cacti. I did the western part the next day before heading back to Phoenix. Went up to the top of Agua caliente Hill for a sunset of Tucson. What a great ride that was. Mount lemmon was covered in a deep thick cloud and so you could not see the peak.

woke up and try to give Mt. Graham a second run. the day before I was going around a curve and got a flat tire, which made me decide to hike Heliograph Peak. but this morning me and my brother speed down the 32 miles to the bottom as fast as we can in the mountain rain. we were the only ones on the road except a bear hunter, and some forest truckers which saw us speed by so fast as if we were going to kill ourselves. LOL what a freakin rush. Then we headed to my brothers Tombstone Mt, before finishing the day off in Tucson at Saguaro national park Bike Loop. What a Great Day!!!

spent 8 days at Big Lake, Escudilla, the Rim, and then headed to Heliograph Peak. Camped at Shannon CG oct 3rd and hiked to the top of Heliograph Peak with my brother. Got to the top and rain storms where seen coming toward us, but never reached the peak. But got a great shot of a rainbow, actually there where 3 of them beside each other. One main one, the second less bright, and the 3rd could only be seen with polarized sunglasses. met a guy up there who was very nice, and one the way down met another nice guy GPSing the trail for this page. This is how I found this website. thanks guys. Posted pic on my ablum of rainbow

enter trail head from Mexican hay Lake from the north, which is not a good road for a car, The south road after mexican hay lake was a better way to get to the trail. you must drive through a gate. This is not a bike trail at all though they say it is. to rocky and thistles flatten two tires of mine even with slim in the wheels. But the hike is a great hike overlooking the forest and the Springerville grasslands with cindercones. I love the upper part of this trail, and is a must do picnic lunch trail. Elk where every where up here, running around like crazy, as if they had no where to hide. There are to rock outcrops on the upper trail. The first one was nice views of Springerville grasslands, but the second one was a great view of the forest and grasslands coming together. There is a warning sign at the second rock outcrop, 'VERY STEEP' and I had to carry my bike down off this trail, but walking was very slippery as the gravel is like beach sand, so be careful if you are old. After that, the trail didnt have any views at all, just the forest, until it reaches the South ffork Colorado =. SIGNS AND MAPS ARE ALL WRONG. IT SAYS 5.5 MILES TRAIL, BUT BELOW IT SAYS IT IS A 7 MILE TRAIL. THE CREEK SAID SOUTH FORK CAMPSITE IS 2 MILES, BUT THE SOUTH FORK SIGN SAYS 3 MILES TO CREEK CROSSING. WE BIKED IT WITH AN BIKE MILAGE ODOMETER, AND IT IS A 5.5MILE TRAIL, ANDF THE CROSSING CREEK IS 2 MILES. South Fork part is like any other mountain creek trail, and was rather boring in views, but the rosehips covered the landscape. I would if i where you just walk from mexican hay lake to the Second rock outcrop and then turn around and walk back to Mexican hay lake. South Fork campground is okay, and had pit vault toliets, and the road that lead to the south fork campground is a must drive. very beautiful road off of 260. many side trails in this area, that where not even listed. Once again if you are not a great bike rider do not do this trail on bikes. you will end up hurting yourself for sure or just throw your bike down in frustration due to the many softball and bowling ball rocks on the trail.

Hiked Military Sinkhole to Mogollan campground on the paved trail, then down to Campsite c-36 on Forest Road 9350. Surely you can see most of the state from up here. Prescott, to Phoenix, 4 peaks, Mt. Lemmon, and soutward from this spot on Forest Road 300 and F.R. 9350. This is a must see walk if you live here or for anyone who doesn't. Showlow trail part stinked, but this so made up for it. I highly recommend you to see this part of Arizona if you have not. It is literally breathtaking. I almost didnt post this, because I dont want a lot of people there, but what the heck, I will share it with you, if you promise to leave your barking dogs at home and your drunken friends playing ozzy osbourne at 3 am in the morning. A MUST SEE!!!

camped at Big Lake and came over here twice. first to Terry Flat trail, then the Escudilla Trail. Leaves are turning and so if you want to see them, you better go NOW!. I walked so slow because I am just into the beauty of the place. I was in no hurry at all. I almost fell asleep in the the first meadow vista you come to. My brother blew out his shoes, so I fixed them with Spruce Sap and 550 cord and so we finished the trail. LOL his whole sole came off. Got to the tower and we were the only ones left that day, so it was exteremly quite. Watched falcons dive, and could see a fire around Big lake - east black river area. it was a controlled burn we later found out. This is a MUST SEE hike. Not sure what you can see from up here, but the Blue Mts, Big lake, Mt. Badly, New mexico desert, and maybe Mexico. One of the best hikes I been on in a while. Temps at night in the upper 40's and day time in the 75-80 range.

Spent 4 nights at Cut thoart campground at Big Lake, and hiked and biked many trails. Sept 27th - Oct 1st. the leaves are changing now, but still green in this area. Escudilla was turning faster, and lots of Golden yellow on that mountain right now. Elk bulged every night to the point you could not sleep, since many of them walked right through the campsite sounding like fog horns. Coyotes howled and laughed several times through each night. Lots of deer, but the Indian Springs Trail the Aspens where still green, but just as beautiful. the tower at blue lake is closed for the season, and so is the rainbow campground showers. but showers at Apache trout is $5. If you are looking to hike to see elk, there where across Crescent lake alot and many on the forest road south of Big lake that leads to East Fork Black River. I counted 31 elk in one hour, and then just stopped counting. Spring water at Spillman spring was very tasty and fresh. The meadows on the trail were a slice of post card paradise.

got to Cutthroat CG got out the bikes and atrted riding down railroad grade trail. It does not start out at the first boat ramp like map shows, but starts at the small last one on railroad boat launch in northwest corner of Big lake. The trail was nothing like I read about and was somewhat disappointed about that, but it was very beautiful just the same. You followed a old railroad grade that is converted from a cowboys truck road, that is filled with tire popping thistles and loose lava gravel that is immpossible for a bike to ride through, but I did it anyways. many Elk, Deer, Cows, and turkey on this part of trail up to the FR 116. because it was late, we did a loop following the Hwy back to Big Lake to campground for a quick 13 mile loop ride. This is a Great BIG COUNTRY hike. I love this place and I highly encourage you to see this place especially Sept-Oct when Elk are making all kinds of sounds, as well as coyotes and turkeys. We scouted out the rest of the trail at West Fork Colorado, and Sheeps Crossing near Greer. They is no way a bike can pedal through the loose red rock lava rock on a bike. it will tear your knees up for sure. Like riding through beachsand. Me and my brother believe the Horse riders got bike trail funding so they will have their own trail. Either way. This railroad grade trail is an excellent big country big sky, big meadow grassland hike I will surely be spending months next spring, exploring.

After Leaving Lockett Meadow due to the Schultz Fire, I went down and spent the night in Sedona, waking up to hike Cathedral Rock again. I love this hike. It is easy hike, but can be tough for someone afraid of heights in some spots. but as long as you walk up in the cracks in the rocks anyone can do this trail. It gets windy up at the top so hold on to your hats. I walked even farther up the trail following the rock wall, which gives you 3 side trails for overlooks, and then at the dead end, you can see the river down below on the backside of the Rock. This trail once you made it to the top, is to the left, which doesnt look like a trail until you get close to it. Follow the wall, and it will go up to the first vista, and then back down, following close to the wall the whole way around. most people dont even know this is here, and so they miss the best part of the trail. Children becareful, at the dead end you could slip and that would be the end of you, but it is really safe as long as you stay near the wall of the trail.

I just got finished hiking Grand canyon rim trail, and headed to Flagstaff. I camped at Lockett Meadow, to hike the trail up to the top. But that morning I had a dream of an angel waking me up saying get up and go NOW. So I woke up and told everyone to wake up, lets go now. I had no idea why, but I just felt I had to go now. I looked at the relection pond and the mountain and told everyone to take a last look at it, you will never see it again. MAN, I had no Idea what i was saying. When I got down the mountain and drove over to Sunset Crater, I looked back and the whole mountain was burning down. I couldnt believe what I was watching. I literrally have the last pictures of Lockett Meadow befoe it burned down. Thank God for that angel in my sleep waking me up. I was very worried about the girls who hiked up there, and a band of musical gyspies that headed up the mountain the night before the fire. I headed to Sunset Crater to hike it, then to Sedona to hike Cathredal Rock the next day.

I hiked the Rim with my little niece and my nephew and two sisters for 3 days. Each day was very sunny, but the nights dropped in the high 20's at night believe it or not. I stayed at Mather's campground and bus shuttle where I left off the day before. I was happy my little niece hiked the Rim without any complaining. Some reason i was expecting a grand view of the canyon at the end at the store, but to my surprise I was highly disappointed, but they had a cold coke, and a cool fireplace. The last part of the trail was very cool if you didnt walk the sidewalk, but found the trail, that was literally on the rim. DONT SLIP!!! LOL I really liked the west side of the rim trail from the main store area. Seen lots of Elk each morning around the Mather's campground near the gocery store, but you had to be up before 7 am to see them. I love the Grand canyon, but everytime I go there, the people is way to much for me. I need to start doing the north side of the canyon to get away from the 100 buses of chinese people. Nothing against them, but wow when you come here to get all spiritual, it takes a lot of focus with 1000's of people around you asking questions like where is the bathroom, or the hotdog stand?

I biked and Hiked these trails in the Humbolt State Forest, and this is the best of the Redwoods. If you want to see the postcard pictures, this is the area to do it in. The national park and Ladybird in my opion stunk once you saw this state park. the Campground was cool as well, since you could sleep in the redwoods are some of the camp spots. The Showers are coin op, so bring the quarters. I biked the Ave. of Gaints and the trails along the Hwy, but the Rockerfeller was the best of the best. if you do hike these trails camp at the campsite on the Ave. and make sure when you are Mattole rd going through the redwoods, that you stay on it, until you get to Eureaka. Mattole Rd, is a slice of New Zealand and is a must drive or bike. I biked it and was one of the best rides ever in my life. GAS UP before you go on this rd, for it is like 70 miles.

I walked this trail but was not that excited about it, the chinese privet was so thick under the redwoods it made it hard to see anything, and the trees where not that great. Humbolt state park was the best of the redwoods I saw. But the bike ride down the mountain is a great fun ride, if you have a buddy system to come pick you up. you can redrive the mountain and take turns going down the very steep hill. The foot bridge is a very cool bridge though.

I was Mt. Biking and frogleaping with my brother on bikes and SUV and we came across this waterfall on the Pacfic Coast Hwy. It is a very short hike but is a must see hike. You can see the waterfall from the road and it is a wonderful falls right on the coast line. If you park in the bend of the road on the pull off, do not hike the trail on the left when you are facing the falls, but look for the hidden trail on the right. This trail can be slippery and muddy but is full of fun. The fog is so thick in this area, the camera took awful pics, but I took them anyways. You will walk high above the creek for a little while and the trail will have junction trails leading off (do not go that way if you want to see the falls) just listen to the waterfall and walk that way. You then you come to a Boulder field which is fun to play around, then head straight down the cliff. Older people beware, you can slid all the way down if you dont have a good foot hold. once you get to the river, snake your way over the big boulder to get to the pools at the waterfall. If you dare, you can sneak around the last boulder and jump into the water for a hidden pool at the bottom of the falls that most people will never go to. It is a movie love making setting for sure, but seriously becareful, it is extremely slippery and one slip here and you will bust your head open for sure. Posion ivy is everywhere so watch out for it, but dont worry you can easily avoid it on this trail. Short 10 minute hike (20 minutes round trip)

Great bike ride up the coast of Big Sur. I loved the Lighthouse, and the Elephant Seal vista where thousand Seals made there home. you can see Sea otters as well. Not much more to explain but it is very beautiful grassland plain with mounbtains to the right of you and the ocean to the left. the wind can be rough at times, but it was a good morning bike ride to get the lungs and heart pumping. the road was quite that day, so there was little danger, but on a busy day I would rather drive this to be avoid being hamburger because someone is looking at the ocean while driving than the road.

Great place close to town to camp at, but seriously this park is a huge golf course. tried to hike Morro Rock but they closed it down that day. The campground said they had WIFI but didnt seem to work. You can hike this trail and it is okay, but so is a sidewalk trail through the bikeyards of Ahwatukee Phoenix. I would sleep here, but hiking to me was not that great, that I didnt even take a picture of it. Torro Rd if you can see it before you get to town, was a great bike ride that reminds you of New Zealand.

Pismo Dunes are for dune buggies, so if you dont have one forget this place or you will be run over. The town is a redneck town and the camping there stinks, but if you go north a little there is a campsite there that is passiable and very close to the beach. Coin showers so bring money. The wind can be so strong you can end up with hypothermia so even in may bring heavy coats. the beach is somewhat flat in this area, but very beautiful. I just loved the dead trees near the campsites, but dead trees tells me one thing, a serious flood from a wave came in and drown out the campsite, most likely after an earthquake, so that isnt comfort to my ears knowing that while I sleep. But anyways to hike this beach area, you must camp there, or forced to deal with the redneck dung buggy people at the lower end of the beach. to be honest, I would never go back there, it is not my cup of tea.
