:oops: ok we got a little cocky because we hiked Quartz in November. This time of year this hike will put you in your place, the temp according to our readings was 117 degrees. Mother nature has a rough side ok maybe it was her humorous side because she put us in our place. :twisted: If you decide to hike Quartz Peak any time during the summer take PLENTY of water and then more. There is no shade unless you dig a little under the boulders. I did get to see mountain sheep, goat. I was thinking what he doing up here then I laughed what was I doing up there at this time of year. It was a good test for stamina and not to take any hike as a push over. 8)

At the end of the trail you get to have a nice swim getting in and out is another thing alot of bugs I forgot NOT to put on the aftershave. you walk through some swampy area as well. The swim is worth it.

Easy hike and fun hike to take the family on. No reason to rush on this one you can even do a couple hikes in this area. Just remeber the water and if you like, also a nice place to have a picnic. Oh yeah there is devils bridge very cool. 8)

Paria (Muddy water) Canyon trail on the Arizona Utah border is a great prep for the Grand Canyon. You can park in Arizona in the Marble Canyon and take a shuttle to Utah for $90 unless you have a group and take two cars. We started at White house entrance wide open canyon which closes quickly to a narrow passage very beautiful at about 12 miles in you start to run into natural springs until you hit the last one at 25 miles in. Which is your last one so if you are low on water tank up because the last 13 miles is pretty dry and there is very little shade. First 25 miles very nice, last 13 is pretty rough besides the terrain you have some biting flies and "OFF" bug spray doesn't even faze them. I knew I accomplished a rough hike when I was done and jumping into the Colorado river whew.

Nice fun and quick trail :D , I would not recommend taking little ones all the way to the top due to parts of the trail become hazardous even though there are cables and fences to protect you from falling small children could easy slip through. Wear proper foot gear, we saw a few people wearing sandels.. not that easy of a trail :lol:
