Spent a wonderful 4 days at J Tree. This place is so magical. Total trip hike was 15 miles. There was lots of scrambling and climbing as well. Stayed in Jumbo Rocks CG, which was nice. And got there before the weekend rush, so was able to pick out the perfect site. Will be visiting this place often!

Paddled around Watson Lake on a leisurely trip. It was so wonderful. Nice and warm, and lots of people and birds. I will be visiting this area a lot in the future!

Actually Kayaking, but it was a great trip down the river. Put in at White bridge and floated down for 10 miles. Of course, I didn't know that it would be such a long trip because the person I went with said only a couple of miles, I was sandbagged! :)

A good trip regardless, the river was quite low though.

Great day for a hike in Sedona. Hiked and met up with Broken Arrow Trail and out to Submarine Rock. Looped it with the jeep trail that parallels the trail, then back out to the Margs Draw Trail Head. Total of 6.5 miles. Good start to the New Year. Saw water holes with frozen water in them.

This is my first outdoor climb. And my second time climbing. The golden granite is amazing so up close, and great for climbing. I will be back to do some more climbing in the near future!

Checked out Joshua Tree National Park. Did a loop hike and lots of scrambling over boulders. What a special area. We are so lucky to have a National Park that celebrates this diverse ecosystem!

I was driving out of town and noticed a new trail head. Cliffrose is maintained by the city, so kind of like an urban trail. I was excited, and I went and checked it out. Way more than I had expected. I didn't follow the trail for too long and ended up going off trail to get back to my car, but I will be checking it out again and will take it all the way.

The trail traverses a rim of a little canyon. You are about 10 to 20 feet down into the canyon and just follow a cliff around. It was really nice. The weather is just perfect for some of the hotter hikes. I did see some cliff dwellings, but it was hard to judge if they were authentic or put up by someone recently.

All and all I am happy to have a nice trail so close to home, and I will be sure to get some good use out of it.

So in order to work up a good appetite for turkey day I decided to hike this trail again. However, I did take a shortcut and only hiked 3 of the 6 miles. It was perfect. Nice and cool. There was even snow on the ground and most of the mud was frozen, which made for good hiking. I was ready to eat by the time I got done.

Typical touristy Sedona hiking, however, it was my first time on this trail. Nice and easy going with lots to see and enjoy. Lots of people enjoying the beautiful weather and Sedona area.

Made this hike into a loop connecting with Soldiers Pass. Absolutely beautiful hike. The temperature was perfect too. You get a 360 degree view of the Sedona area from the top of Brins Mesa, including being able to see Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and much much more! Amazing ecological differences from grassland into slick red rock.

Arizona has is one of the most diverse state I have lived in, ecologically and geologically speaking. This trail offers several different types of ecosystems and geological formations. It is a steep climb (especially if you are not prepared for it) but in the end completely worth the time spent to get to the top of the trail where you can see the entire Coconino valley looking south, north west.

Actually did the Lower Oldham Trail. It was a bit muddy at first from all the rain, but once we got onto the trail about 3/4 of a mile it dried up. This is a great short hike. Lots of water coming off of Mt. Elden, even saw a little waterfall by the base of the mountain. Some wild flowers, but many more just waiting to pop.

Backpacked this trail all the way back to the start of the springs. There are some great swimming holes beyond the more popular sites. The day was semi hot, but camped next to a nice secluded swimming hole, which kept us cool and refreshed. There was a fire ban in order, but there was no need for a camp fire. Monsoons came in for an outstanding lightning and thunder show which lasted for several hours. A little rain, but nothing too bad. Overall this was an amazing backpacking adventure!

Buffalo Park is an outstanding urban trail tucked away within the city of Flagstaff. There were lots of people utilizing the trail system, which is outstanding and shows the support for wilderness areas and urban trail systems.

A nice mellow hike/walk. Saw the famous petroglyphs, and they are abundant. The area has undergone some major ecological restoration, which is evident, mainly riparian work. You can feel the community stewardship. Did some birding as well and noted a turkey vulture perched on a snag. A little gem tucked away within the city.

This trail was awesome. Started early, and had cloud cover for most of the hike. Were the trail forks off at Weir Trail, continued up the side of the cliff for about another mile. The views were spectacular. Then hiked back down to Weir Trail and went down to the swimming hole. A great way to cool off. The water was chilly, but very refreshing! I will be doing this hike again for sure!

This was a wonderful hike. Got out early, and was pleasantly surprised to find no one else on the trail the entire hike. The trail follows the creek for almost the whole hike. It was a cloudy morning, so the temp. was mild. Very lush and green with lots of rock outcroppings.

Started this hike around 7:30 am. Nice cool temps. About 3 miles into the hike, I found that my water bladder was leaking and had about a fourth of a cup of water left. :o :wrt: :wrt: I had to turn around and end the hike.

The trail was quite busy, and there were about 50-60 cars at the trail head.

I will have to tackle the summit another time.
