| no partners | | First time doing the Motherlode. We opted to go North to South because we wanted to avoid the private property and thought a downhill scramble would be easier than uphill when connecting the Ridgeline to the trail. We camped at the TH on the night before and started the hike at 6:00am. We followed the GPS track from this website and it was a BIG time saver. I think this traverse was not as difficult as others have said because we just had such good beta from all you helpful folks. We descended Amethyst Peak via this sketchy side drainage in order to avoid the mine. The recent fire burns and brush made the descent kind of miserable. We summited Amethyst Peak by 1:00pm but got back to the car by 4:45pm. We could have made way better time if there was a more useable (and legal) route to connect to the Amethyst trail. |

| no partners | | We had an extra couple hours after a Munds Park wedding and decided to knock this lil mountain off the list. There were not a lot of views like everyone else said but the trees and forest was beautiful. We walked the road to the “summit” with the radio towers but quickly turned back. This would be a fun snowshoe hike if there is good accessibility to the TH in winter. |

| no partners | | We did the full Thunder River Deer Creek loop in 3 days for Haley’s birthday! We hiked into Surprise Valley for the first night and then hiked down to Deer Creek Falls and traversed the Granite high route and camped at upper Tapeats for the second night. It was a bit of a push but totally worth it. |

| no partners | | We hiked the North Wilson trail to the Sedona overlook because the Midgley Bridge Parking lot was already full when we got there. The entire trail was covered in snow but we didn't need microspikes. The shaded canyons got cold but the sections in the sun were nice and warm. It was still a fun hike but was a little slippery and slushy on the descent after some of the snow had melted into mud. |

| no partners | | Noah and I hit this hike during a cold spell and one of the last truly good weather weekends in the low desert. It snowed/flurried on us a couple times on the way up and it provided great views in the distance. This was my first time and we got the chance to give an AZT thru-hiker a ride to Superior! Good luck U-Turn! |

| no partners | | Started at Slate Creek at 7:55am and finished back at the car at 1:00pm. There was some snow along the road at the top but I didn’t need traction devices. Didn’t see anyone until half way back down. Close the gate! |

| no partners | | Ran this canyon through the West Fork. Took us 8 hours with some backtracking and route finding. There was no water in the “potholes” but this was before the rain. The exit was brutal and were unable to find the cairns use path. |

| no partners | | Realized halfway through our Sunday that we had no further plans so we drove up quickly to Sedona to knock off another hike from the list. Everybody else also had the same idea because the sides of the roads were lined with vehicles. We made a loop out of Long Canyon Trail and Mescal Mountain Trail. It is relatively flat with periodic changes in elevation. There are a lot of mountain bikers on this loop but they seemed like hikers because most of them just pushed their bikes on the uphill. The technical section along the south face of Mescal Mountain is very beautiful. No 4WD or high clearance is needed to access TH. |
