| no partners | | Some days I want to get out into the desert but I'm not really in the mood to hike all day. I just want to get into it, find a nice spot where no one comes along, eat some lunch, and read for a couple hours. Praying Hands Loop has become one of my favorites for this kind of day. Once you gain some elevation, the view is spectacular and you didn't kill yourself doing it. It didn't take you all day so you can find that perfect rock that fits your butt nicely and sit around as long as you want. I finally ran across this trail description today after doing this loop a few times and not knowing what to call it. I like doing this loop the opposite direction, though, for two reasons. The first is that the trail is easier to find going clockwise and the second is because I like doing the uphill when its more secluded. This way, when you reach the Treasure Loop (god, I wish it was called the Treasure Trail) where you're bound to see the Lost Dutchman crowds, its a quick shot down and out. Though, come June 3rd when the park closes this won't be a problem anymore and those benches after a steep section can be pretty nice. Also, today, I ran across a deer. We surprised each other and it bolted before I could get my camera out.
Today I wanted a nice spot to relax-- next week I'll be doing something a bit rougher! |
