After climbing at isolation canyon, Curtis and I were supposed to have a climbing day #2 in ECC with a group but we both overslept! It was nearly noon by the time we started this hike, we cruised down the steep path and only stopped for a few pictures... ;)
We passed the usual popular spots but I encouraged Curtis to continue on toward my wonderful "secret spot." The waterfall area was amazing and full! When we got to my favorite spot it had changed dramatically! :( No longer a deep lagoon, I had pictures of me doing the "Wendy" balancing on a rock so I could stand. http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=105731 This time I just stood on the rocky ground... http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=148645
We swam for just a bit but decided it was a better idea to head back to the waterfall area. There were hardly any people here! The areas change so much here! It was deep again and you can swim under the rock and into the bowl, climb out of the bowl and jump off the edge by the falls! I only did it once because honestly it scared me.. We dried in the sun and headed out, it was sunset by the time we reached the car.
We had planned to go to Deidre's famous Winslow 4th of July bash but realized we were too late! To catch any fireworks, we had to head back to Payson. We got a dinner to go but the streets were packed that we had to park SO far away.. except it worked out perfectly! We ended up running into the fairway of the golf course and watching the beautiful display from there!

I am now attempting to navigate, post, reply (etc..) this site with only an iPhone… Wish me luck!
