| partners | | I was invited to join a group doing a sunset hike and rappel in the superstitions by SparkieJackie. I had no real idea where I was going so I did some HAZ research on hikes in the area. I arrived a bit after 5 but only found a single car.. I scanned it for any sign of hiking or climbing paraphernalia, none seen. I was about to head to Climbmax for my normal Monday night bouldering when I remembered a write up by Joe: "Shorter than the half way point of Squaw Peak with the most beautiful view!" I grabbed my camera, changed my shoes and threw my harness in my pack. (just in case) As I traveled up the road I passed by several flag football tags. Maybe this was correct, this must be the right area! I followed the short trail to the top, and received an warm greeting. I was very pleased to meet a great adventure group and tried one of the rappels they had set up. It had a lot more loose rock than I am used to, usually rappelling after a climb but it was fun. I really enjoyed going to the edge of the cliffs and seeing the beautiful views, that was my favorite part. Other than my little adventure; running down and back up to retrieve some more water. Fun evening, I look forward to joining them again for another adventure. |
