| no partners | | Up the Super Trail to Josephine Saddle then continued on the Super Trail to Riley Saddle, which is at 8000 feet elevation about 2 miles from where the Super Trail breaks away from the Old Baldy Trail. The goal was going to be Josephine Peak, which is accessed by bushwhacking about 0.7 mile and 500 feet elevation gain from Riley Saddle. When I got there, it was quickly evident that this one was so overgrown that it wasn't suited for one not wearing long pants. Also, it would have been too time consuming to try it with thunderstorms lurking about. The Super Trail and the route to the peak are very exposed, so it is a better hike for the cooler months. So back to Josephine Saddle I went, then took the Old Baldy Trail down to the parking lot. Began to rain as I was almost done with the hike, so that worked out well. |
