| partners | | Drove down to Ramsey Vista Campground in the Huachuca Mountains Saturday to join my friends in Tucson Backpackers meetup for camping and hiking. After a fun night of partying around the campfire, some of them decided to hike up to Carr Peak and back Sunday morning. Very pleasant on Carr where we took a long break. We parted ways at the trail junction and I continued on solo over to also do Miller Peak (3rd time in less than two weeks). It took the group a long time to break camp and get going Saturday morning, so we didn't start hiking until about 940am. I knew that meant there was a good chance I might have trouble completing this hike due to thunderstorms/rain. Luck was with me again, as I was able to get to Miller with only thunder in the distance. Got hit with a few drops of rain coming off Miller, but it stayed just right for hiking all the way back around Carr. As I headed down to the parking lot, the thunder got closer and light rain was encountered for the last half mile or so. Once I got back down to Sierra Vista, it started pouring on the mountain, spreading quickly over the whole area. I drove in heavy rain almost to Sonoita. I'd have to say it turned out to be a pretty good weekend! |
