There was one small tree across the road (FR 487A) about half a mile from the ranch, but we were able to push it to the side of the road and get by. The other downed tree impediment that was mentioned by an earlier traveler has been removed via chain saw by someone else. The trail itself is good and easy to follow in all parts. The views of Cold Spring Canyon and Pueblo Canyon are great. You can spot some of the Pueblo Canyon ruins from the overlook at the end of the trail, but you will need either binoculars or at least an 8x zoom lens on a camera. My picture set shows you where to look. Don't even think about finding a way down to them - even though they are only 1/4 to 1/2 mile away. Temperatures were in the high 40s to low 50s.Visibility was quite good and you could see the White mountains on the eastern horizon. Autumn colors were a little past their prime. |
