| no partners | | We did this trail Tuesday as a part of a larger loop hike that continued down East Clear Creek, out the Horse Crossing trail and back to the car on old, little-used forest service roads. The weather was clear when we started, clouded over and threatened to storm while we were hiking ECC, and cleared up again as we hike the FRs back to the car. Great temperatures (low-70s). Water flow was adequate and water temperature was refreshing. Had to cross the creek many times but always found spots where the depths were ankle to mid-calf. Saw lots of poison ivy at places, but no one in our party got into it.
It's a beautiful canyon and much more passible than West Clear Creek for us non-canyoneers.
Saw lots of bear scat along the trail, especially where the berry bushes were thick (gee, wonder why that is?). Some of the scat was VERY fresh. Unfortunately/Fortunately (depending on your ability to outrun them - just joking) we didn't see any actual bears. |
