Tom and I did this to continue our exploration of the Black Canyon Trail. This was a relatively new section or very recently maintained from the looks of it. There is a sign by the south trailhead indicating that government funding is helping speed the development of the trail and we're going to try to knock out a few new sections and post them on HikeAZ as we do them

Our distance and AEG includes the out/back hike as well as exploration of parking areas and track creation. In one case we wandered around a little to see which direction the trail went. When the trail joined Crown King Rd, the Castle Creek Trail #239 was only .1 mile south. However, it was a dirt road at this end and from the triplogs posted on that hike, it might take a good 4x4 to get to that trail.

After the hike, we took a short drive into central Bumble Bee. According to the sign population is 19 with many more horses and cows. There was an old stone building that Tom said was the old post office. There was Bumble Bee Ranch as well which seemed to be the busiest place there.

This hike convinced me to buy another pair of boots. The ones I used were fairly new and broken in, but the balls of my feet were hurting and have been for the last 3 weeks. I've tried foam inserts and Superfeet Green but to no avail. My current boots are 1/2 size too large due to my ordering error; the new ones are a different model and the correct size. I hope they work.

Aside from my foot problems this was a nice and interesting hike.
