| no partners | | I hiked in the area near Byous Butte but not to the butte itself.
Jumped on what appeared to be the most practical ridge up to Hewitt Ridge. The area probably seems bleak to most with lack of trails and prestigious destinations. However, I guarantee there's more to see than most of the cow patty trails nearby in the wilderness.
Like lower Millsite Canyon the saguaros here are remarkably pristine. There's no visual damage or diseases most trail side species contain. I saw several cute baby saguaros near the beginning of my hike. The sound of the wind whisping through saguaro needles always makes me smile.
I spooked up three rabbits hiding in the bushes. The third didn't dart off as quick as the first two. We had a short eye to eye stare off before he or she zipped off alongside the mountain. Along the way I found a small alcove fit for shelter for one. Then stood on some cliffs and inhaled the vast canyon views. There's some serious geology going on in this area. I stood in one area thinking to myself, what a bunch of shists.
