I think I did this a month too late. The canyon hiking part lasts too long unless you have the color, and the day was overcast and stormy. It was not ideal, but I got it in once. All in all it is a fine hike, but less than stellar conditions and hardly any view put a damper on it. I really like camping at it's base in the mixed oak forest; lots of solitude.

The collecting tank was mostly dry looking and full of leaves, as was the pipes collecting tank. The lower tank was dirty but had water in it. The pipe running from the upper spring did not appear to be the source to this water as it was not connected to the lower tank.
