I did the Reavis terminus to the north part of this trail a few years ago, about 1/2 way and got caught in a huge storm in which I almost got washed away down a stream ! The weather this trip was no problem though. The first few miles south are not so great as the trail keeps coming back to the highway along the lake. Once you get past mile 3 its quite beautiful and eventually goes up Cottonwood Canyon which is roughly where I camped. On the way back I met a hunter who said he had seen a fawn near where I camped that had been attacked by a mountain lion as it was bleeding and had large gashes in its' leg. He promptly showed me his 9mm pistol and told me I should carry one to avoid having the same fate ! Anyway its a good trail, hope to get back again for a few days to do the whole section in one shot, plenty of water all the way back in Nov. |
