| partners | | I'd been pretty excited to do this one but last night was one of those nights where I could not fall asleep. The last time I looked at the clock it was about 3am which means I got about an hour and half of sleep-- lame. I couldn't cancel cuz I posted this event. I loaded up on coffee and met the guys. Luckily, though, I didn't feel the lack of sleep until probably the last mile of the hike.
We made it down to the box with little issue. There are definitely some areas where you have to figure out the best route but we did it pretty quickly and easily for the most part. The box is for sure one of the gems of the Superstitions and I wish it had gone on for much longer than it did. We made it out and trekked our way down to the Cavalry and on back to Boulder Canyon. We stopped for lunch in a shady area with a nice view of Battleship Mountain and watched a few hikers working their way down Battleship. Was it any of you?
Those were the only other hikers we saw all day until getting closer to Canyon Lake. It was a warm sunny day and it didn't feel at all like January out their today. It was great to meet John9L and to see jochal again (we had met a couple months ago on the trail). Great hiking partners! This is definitely now on my list of hikes I'll be doing again in the future. |
