1st trip
Starting from Peralta TH, took Bluff Spring to Terrapin to Weavers Crosscut. Left the crosscut trail and went off trail up to Weaver's base on the east side below the "saddle". Followed the base around to the north end where I pretty much got cliffed-out, then back around to the south end and then to west side below the saddle. Realized that there is no way I could ever climb this thing! Returned to the parking lot via a reversed Dripping Springs Loop. Found the obligatory Mylar balloon near Weaver's. So far on every long Soups hike I've done I have found at least one balloon!

Last time I did the DSSL I reported that the trail is overgrown in the Red Tanks section near peak 3834. Well now that I have a GPS and can look at my track after the hike, I realized that I somehow skipped the section that goes east around 3834 and I went west instead. So I guess I wasn't even on the trail. No wonder its overgrown! Doh! So maybe the actually trail isn't that bad. I wouldn't know 'cause I made the same mistake each time, even going in opposite directions!

The cattle have really taken over Randolph Canyon. The whole place is just covered with cow pies!
