Hiked to the highest point in Texas on a return trip to Az from Ft Hood, Texas. I took the scenic route back in my daughter's car, who just got deployed to Afghanistan. The Guadalupe Mountains are in north Texas near the New Mexico border. It has been very dry this year in this area, and the flora are showing the effects of the drought. Very windy conditions for the hike. It was hard to stand up on the summit, so I didn't stay long. Nice hike with beautiful scenery. The trail is in good shape and easy to follow.
