| no partners | | I needed to check out the Kendrick Pk Trail for the HAZ event, so after making sure I found out where that was, I went over to the Pumpkin TH. Arrived there as the only car at the TH, did the entire hike without seeing any other group, and arrived back at the TH with my car still being the only one there. Definitely a great choice if you're looking for solitude. By comparison I stopped by the Lava River Cave on the way back and there were 20+ cars and a school bus in the TH lol. I'll check that one out sometime
Anyway, I thought this trail was great. The first short portion is forested, followed by a massively burned area to about the halfway point, then back to another forested section up to the top. Last 1-1.5 miles include many switchbacks and I thought this was the best part. Lots of downed trees you have to navigate over and around |
