Headed to the Black Hills with two summits in mind. Mingus was first on the list. I wanted to gain some elevation so I took "the hard way." None of that driving to the top nonsense. Started around 7:30 with more than welcome temps. I thought the forest road had nice scenery until I got to #105. I've never been amongst so many trees before.

The trail itself was pretty overgrown in some places, but nothing a 5 year-old couldn't figure out. Gave the trip more of a primitive feel.

Topped out - mostly - and headed towards the end of #105 after checking out BM North Mingus. Walked a mile or so down the road for the lookout tower benchmark, but turned around in hopes of making a side trip on the way back to Prescott. Backtracked to the hang gliding ramp for lunch, and the wind pushed me back to the car. Completely forgot about the cemetery. No lookout benchmark either, though the van did make it up the road.
