| partners | | This week I gave Joe the responsibility of picking and planning the hike. He did not disappoint. I finally got to check out the Mingus area!!
Why don't you see more people up here hiking? 12+ hours / 26 miles of hiking = 2 hikers.
Temps were perfect on the day. Starting in 60's and all the way to the top of Mingus. On the way down the Fire Orb was behind Mingus, so perfect again.
The big surprise for me was the cool area on Black Canyon #114 about 5 miles in, where you drop into the tall pines. Some nice camp sites abound here. It was this area where Teva decided to gobble up his Go Juice. In short order, he once again became Annoying Man.
The View Point Trail has incredible views.
It's a bit of a Nard Buster, but well worth it. We took lunch at the top after making the slog around the loop
Of all the link trails above, the only one that I did not thoroughly enjoy was The Coleman. Even it had some great views, I'm just not into walking over ankle busters.
For a moment to moment / blow by blow check out Joe's Triplog http://hikearizona.com/x.php?x=65885
We kept an eye out for Yeti's, but it was nowhere to be found.
I don't think they exist. |
