I really like the trails near Catalina- such great rock formations and the Baby Jesus Trail has some of the best saguaro stands anywhere. There are large fields of ocotillos that were very happy about the recent rains.
On the way back to where I'd parked, I came upon a small, five-inch long desert tortoise. I took some pictures and was taking a movie of it when it decided to move and find somewhere to hide. Only the place it chose was a small patch of shade that was in between my feet! It was adorable. I wish I could have stayed there longer but it was getting warm out.
