Wow I wish it was in our back yard! If it was it would have twice the traffic of Camelback though which would take away from its appeal. This one doesn't waste any time going into steep mode. The cool thing however is that as you push upward you are looking out at the Grand Canyon (long ways) and directly below you is the Colorado River. The view continues to amaze all the way up keeping your mind off the task at hand. I found the trail easy to follow and only saw one other hiker the whole way.
Once you reach the top it is a must to go left to the small summit area. From here you can see the Grand Canyon, Glen Canyon, Lake Powell, Navajo Mountain, oh and the Power Plant and its three stacks over in Page. I was truly in awe up there and can't wait to go back and do it again. I can only imagine what it would be like watching the sun rise or set from that upper deck.
This hike wins my Favorite of the week award. Scratch that, it's my favorite of the Month! It is a must do if you are in the area.
Bonus! I found a great little Lodge right there in Marble Canyon afterwards as well. Clean and Cheap. $58 Bucks! |
