Our guide that day was Scott Casterlin, who like me had grown up in the Phoenix area and knew it pretty well. Since I hadn't been up there in 23 years, I knew I had to join in! We had a solid group, including chief guide Bob Cardell and a big fellow I didn't know, who was carrying a pretty big pack for such a short hike I thought. Once we made it to the top to enjoy the views and have lunch, the guy with the big pack said he had something for all of us. He proceeded to take out two six packs of Four Peaks Kiltlifter Beer! We were pretty amazed and he said, "It's the least I could do since my son owns the brewery." Wow, how cool was that? And so we all enjoyed some of that beer that Hank Scussel lugged all the way up that peak! It was quite a day (and a great memory). |
