On and off flurries all the way to the ranch, didnt stick. The trail north of the saddle became very muddy in alot of places due from a snow that came in early Saturday am, but melted quickly. The road going to the trail head is in better condition and the trail up the switchbacks has been trimmed so that it's wider. A couple of big trees that had fallen across the trail had also been cut so you could now walk through them and not over them. Finally we got to the ranch (after a late start and due to some newbies ) at about 4:30. At 6:30 we had a visit from a Pinal County Sheriff Department helicopter that landed about 25 yards from our campsite. He was looking for a lost hiker that had been missing for couple days. Her name was Tanya (didn't catch her last name), 38 years old and her car was found at the Campaign TH. Sad situation again in the Supes. The night got down to about 31 degrees, but didn't feel like it. Sunday was alittle chilly but partly cloudy and a perfect day for a hike out. The apple trees were in bloom and smelled wonderful.
Owen, I did look for the truck frame turned to trailer, but by the time we hit the end of the northern forest, it was to dark to see very well and we were camped at the first set of campsites as you came into Reavis valley., so we had to turn around and head back to camp. |
