Friday... Got a late start because I had a few bits to tend to and wanted to wait on the FedEx dude to drop off a package that I didn't want sitting out all weekend. I finally got going and arrived at the trail head at 12:30. The whole ride in was a zoo. Its finally nice in southern Arizona and everybody was out enjoying the weather. Uh it was a touch warm and the mutt and I drank up almost all of our water.

Came across a few folks coming out as I was wandering in. Ran into two chaps that said there were no apples. I got bummed a bit. Then I ran into a couple that had a pack full of apples.. YES!

I arrived at the ranch a touch after 4PM. 3.5 hours in.. I think the dutch oven and six pack of beer, slowed me down. :D

Filtered water, set up camp, made a bit of food, watched a couple deer in the meadow, had some drinks by the fire and tried to sleep well. The full moon kept me up.

Saturday... I had a sleep in till 7. Slow day around camp, drinking coffee, reading, eating. Got slightly motivated to have a wander about 11 or so. The spent the better part of the day exploring around the whole ranch area and orchard.. picking apples and eating them. Just wandering and checking out all the old farming gear.

I packed up a bunch of apples to take over to my mom. She wants to make a pie. Had a chat with a some cowboys shooting guns and some other folks. Watched more deer wander close to camp again and crashed out.

Sunday... Up bright and early. A group showed up just after sunset the night before and were loud. Obnoxious! Stealing sitting logs from the camp next door for the fire. More on that later.

I was up at 6 and packed up and out rolling by 7. Had a fantastic hike out. Made good time and had a chat with two guys at the saddle in for a day hike. Their pup Daisy could have been my pups sister. Same white with brindle spots. They played, we chatted.

I stopped in to pay my respects at the grave site.

Saw an animal on the way out.. I say animal cause I can not figure out what it was. I thought it was a mountain lion at first and didn't know if I should grab my handgun or the camera. I went for the camera and shot a bad pic on a crap camera. I still have no idea what it was.

Had a chat with a hunter at the trail head. He said they took 3 buck in their group that weekend. He and I ate some apples on the tailgate of my truck and yammered on for a bit.

Overall... Reavis Ranch is a pretty magical, amazing place.

There is something about the orchard, the old farm equipment, the fact that it sits in the middle of the AZ desert. I tried to go there 10 years ago from the north and didn't make it due to a really sick dog. I am bummed it took me this long to have a go at it again.

What really bums me out.. I ran into some idiots. I am convinced that humans pretty much suck for the most part. The amount of litter, toilet paper, and still lit campfires that I ran into. Meh. It is what it is, I am glad I got to check it out before some knuckle head ruins it.

It was am amazing weekend in an awesome place with my pup. Exactly what I needed.
