| partners | | For some reason I had it in my head that this was going to be a short, quick, and boring hike. I was totally wrong! This is a great hike. The scenery and views are fantastic.
We made it up the popular viewpoint pretty quickly. I'm not sure if you can get to the actual summit of that rock formation or not-- but I banged the crap out of my head in a failed attempt.
Then we headed for the true summit. The cairned route is mostly easy to follow until you start ascending to the summit. Then you get to do some nice scrambling and route finding to the top. It appears there are two cairned routes up to the saddle. We took the more direct route. We finally made it up to the summit and were instantly swarmed by gnats and ladybugs. It was nasty up there. John signed the summit log for us and we scurried back down to the saddle to eat lunch.
The way down went by super quick and we were back on trail in no time. I'm glad John wanted to do this one-- it turned out to be a fully packed hike. |
