| no partners | | This was a much needed little backpacking trip. Unfortunately, John9L had to cancel last minute which left it up to RachelT, our friend Angie, and myself. We took Barnhardt out to the Divide trail and camped at Bear Saddle. We returned the same way not wanting to deal with Y-bar with full packs on.
We had beautiful weather both days. It got a bit windy late into the night but no big deal. Bear Spring has plenty of water in it-- its smells a little of sulfur but seemed fine. We had the area to ourselves. The trails seemed dead on Saturday. Early on we saw one couple dayhiking to the falls and then another couple on the Divide Trail-- it looked like they were doing the loop as a dayhike. On Sunday we saw quite a few groups on Barnhardt.
Bear Saddle is a fantastic camp spot. I'll definitely spend time there again. I was stoked to finally get to use my new tend and so far I love my new steripen-- super convenient and annoying cleaning like a pump. |
