| partners | | 2nd Hike of the day. Chad and I actually tried to do this one when I was here last month but never got around to it. Nice little uphill Hike from the TH that starts on the Swift Trail. A few switchbacks, but nothing serious or too strenuous, which was perfect for adjusting to the sudden change of altitude driving up. We were hoping that we timed this Hike right and there would be a million Ladybugs on the Peak....
Got to the top of the Peak in pretty short order and at first, disappointment set in, as we only spotted a couple of Ladybugs. But then Chad moved a bush to look at the underside of a rock and there was a nice big grouping of them. Chad seems to think that they are just now starting to congregate, so in a week or so, the Peak should be overrun with them. So it was good to see what turned out to be a couple of large bunches. Took some Photos, signed the Register, and took a token Photo for Tortoise Hiker, since it's apparent that he may have been there at some time or another....
Enjoyed the views and then headed down to continue our day. Chad had been talking this Peak up alot and he's right, it's a very cool little Peak. I'm glad we finally got a chance to do this one.... |
