Denny enjoyed the ride from the back seat, watching for wildlife. He spotted a couple of dozen Deer and no Elk on the way south and a couple of dozen Elk and no Deer, on the way back north.
Substitute 1
None of us had done this one before.
We decided to start our day doing the AB Young trail... From the less common Top to Bottom to Top configuration. The trail is easy to follow and for the most part is in good shape. The views South to and around the Slide Rock Area are top notch. Once down at Oak Creek, we wandered north to the area that has some pretty sweet rentals on the creek.
After soaking my shirt in the creek to cool off, it was time to make the 2000' climb back up.
I took a climb on the Lookout Tower that was being renovated. Nobody was home and the door was locked. |
