Me thinks this trail has been over scare-a-fied. The grade seems very forgiving. I didn't notice any steep, slide backwards, areas anywhere. Perhaps if you took a wrong step off the side not paying attention. It's steep, just not as expected. A guy jogged up and down during our near noon August jaunt.
Not sure how much follows the original CCC trail. It seems well laid out now regardless. A tad brushy but nothing horrible.
The views are top notch. The highway sounds like a highway. The cabins at the bottom are cool. We dipped our shirts in the creek before heading back up. Being slightly steamy humid out I didn't know if that was a good idea. Luckily it made a world of difference. A guy with dogs claimed 103 on the upper end of the trail. |
